On March 8th under the
banner “We Can Stop Violence Against Women And Gender Discrimination”
young Cambodian women’s group will take to the stage the
role-play situation of people in Cambodia from the rural to urban
lives; life as farmers, sex workers and garment factory workers
together with the fashion parade.
The
conditionality imposes on Cambodia by the World Bank and IMF when
this country get the loan worsening the situation of the people
day to day because it creates social economic discrimination against
people and as result violence increase, especially violence against
women. Life in the rural area and household issue including debt,
and narrow economic opportunity increase male violence against
women and children and rape in particular. Migrating from one
hardship in the rural to urban job, women are subject more pressure
and violence on them as sex workers (the recent plan on unethical
clinical trial on these women) and garment workers (post MFA in
Cambodian garment factory.) The interlude of the day will be original
songs reflect the situation as Cambodia women together with the
Khmer traditional dance perform by workers and Srey Sras group.

The signatures together with the recommendation made at the last
June-July anti-rape workshop will be sent (again) to the government
and related Ministries to call for serious action against all
form of violence and gender discrimination against women.
